The Glutton's Guide

This cheeky little insert actually folds out to be a mammoth A2 calendar littered with cool events for TMAGgotty types. The Glutton's Guide is for Gluttons for Culture and is proof that there is a prolific arts, science, history, film, theatre and music scene in Tasmania. Also free, the Glutton's Guide is available in all good bookstores, cafes, restaurants and libraries in Hobart.

Vintage Project

In November 2008 we held an incredible fashion show in collaboration with the Clarence City Council, TAFE textiles students and the Decorative Arts Collection at TMAG. Students designed, produced and modelled contemporary pieces in response to clothing and costumes at TMAG ranging from period times to the 60s and 70s. Built into their curriculum, the planning and production of Vintage spanned over a year. It was held at the beautiful restored Rosny Barn and the catwalk was MC'd by the irrepressibe Cecil Brown, who performed some of his outlandish spandex-related songs during interval.

The Cabinet of Curiosities Project

Cabinet of CuriositiesIn July 2008 we participated in a very interested project involving a gargantuan travelling 'wunderkammer' – or cabinet of curiosities – on loan from the National Museum of Australia. TMAGgots and their families filled the thirty-drawer monster with quirky treasures that had been stowed away in attics or in shoeboxes under beds. It was a memorable experience, and a brilliant way to demonstrate how the public directly contribute to a museum's collections. The Cabinet was "opened" on July 17 by extraordinary cabinet-maker and artist Patrick Hall to a packed-out crowd.
