Come join us as we explore the John Elliott Classics Museum at the University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay Campus.
Like Ancient Greece and Rome? Interested in the ancient world? Why not come along and explore the classical world.
The TMAGgots invites you to explore the John Elliott Classics Museum, which is one of Hobart’s hidden treasures.
Rated one of the finest of its kind in Australia, the museum was established by the late John Elliott, a Classics Professor at the university to showcase pots from ancient Greece in the 1950s.
Over the years it has expanded to comprise 500 artefacts, including 300 ancient coins – right here in Hobart!
The collection houses items from throughout the Ancient Mediterranean, including Ancient Egypt and Greece, Mesopotamia, Etruria and Rome.
