Don't Panic!, Don't Panic!
Here's a unique "behind the curtain" opportunity and chance to see the hilarious Dad's Army at the Playhouse Theatre, Hobart.
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to produce a stage show in Hobart? Well, here is a terrific opportunity to find out how Hobart Rep have gone about staging their latest production - Dad's Army.
Dad's Army is a classic BBC TV SitCom. This production brings three episodes to life and will enable those familiar with the show to reminise and expose a new generation to the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard, who are standing by ready to defend the mother-country from Mr Hitler's plans to invade England.
This is a two-fold event. The first component starts at 5.30pm, in the Playhouse Theatre. It will take the form of an informal meet and greet Q&A session with some of the cast and crew of Dad's Army, which opens on 17 May.
You'll have the chance to meet Private Pike (Dan), Stage Manager (Rogan), Director (Roger) and Production Manager (Shauna-Lee), who will share their insights on how a show of this nature is pulled together. We'll also explore what roles an actor, director, stage Manager and production manager fulfill
This is a classic TMAGgots "behind the scenes" experience and will provide a unique insight into how an amateur production is staged by Hobart Rep.
This session will go for an hour tops and you'll then have time to grab a "cheap and cheerful" bite to eat nearby, before coming back to the theatre to see that evening's performance of Dad's Army, when the curtain rises at 8.00pm.
All you need to do is register on our website for the first component of the evening and then go to the Playhouse's website (www.playhouse.org.au) or their box office, which is open Monday - Friday (11.00am-2.00pm) or Sunday (9.00am - 1.00pm) to secure your tickets to see Dad's Army that evening.
How cool is that. We hope you can join us.
